This past May Quality Music and Dance had their biannual Community Appreciation Party it was a fun time held by all. Students preformed, there was food, face painting, games and more.

It's Never To Late To Be In The
Music Recital! Recital time is almost here and we’re getting our students ready to have their moment in the spot light, this is the opportunity to get to see how far your students have come this year. I have always enjoyed seeing the growth of the students each year. To me music has always been a part of life, from the earliest beginnings even before written language people would tell stories and history through song. When we were young we would learn our alphabet by song, we would sing during chores and we would have music if we were celebrating, or were sad, heck now with ipods our kids don’t ever go anywhere with out there favorite tunes. Thinking back when I was young my mother would have me and my brothers and sister sing and we would have like mini variety shows that we would sing or have a small skit but there was always music. And with my own son RW, I remember how proud I was after watching his recitals. Kids do grow up fast and families are busier than when I was young, or at least it seems that way, but Every November, December, May, and June I feel that same since of pride to see the smiles on the students faces as they finish their recital pieces as they look to their parents for approval and as a parent I do know how proud my parents were of me. So I ask each and every parent and student that may want to participate in our recitals to ask your teacher or you can let the front desk know and we can get you on the program. Student of The Month
Congratulations to Shakayla Carson our student of the month. Shakayla has been playing music for as long as she can remember and was in her first band in the eighth grade “Beyond the Avenue” Her freshman year she started taking lessons at Quality Music Center on both the guitar and drums, she also enjoys plays piano but guitar is by far her favorite. Shakayla loves to play her acoustic guitar and that is what she uses when she is writing songs. But her electric guitar holds a special place in her heart Shakayla’s late brother Xzavier gave it to her. Shakayla’s love of music has helped her decide to major in music. She is currently going to TCC following her dream. She wants to become a composer and music teacher and someday she says she hopes to come back and teach for Quality! She said Wayne (one of her guitar teachers) Stressed the importance of knowing the notes and how to read music as well as playing the cords. She said “I practice everyday and now I can play any note right off the bat”, “I want to be able to teach others how to do that” She said with a smile! "Yellow Card" is one of her favorite bands, and one of her her favorite song to play is Yesterday by the Beatles. We want to wish Shakayla the best as she continues her dreams and her music education and thank her and her family for always referring us to all their friends and families.

QMD Performance Teams Wows Disney!
Quality Music and Dance just returned from Walt Disney World!!! The QMD Sparklers, Dazzlers and Smile Squad performed a twenty five minuet show at Disney Springs. The performance teams not only performed, they also had an opportunity to take a dance workshop with a Disney cast member who has appeared in many of the shows and parades in all four of the Disney Parks. The teams had an amazing experience sharing their love of dance with an audience from all around the world.
